Tirana like Fier, with two Council Chairmen

Considering himself still the Chairman of Tirana’s City Council, Njazi
Kosovrasti declared that the act undertaken by the Socialist Party
councillors yesterday was completely illegal.

He declared that the action of the left councillors has no legal value, since for Kosovrasti it is just a declaration.

“As Chairman of the Tirana City Council, I can say that what happened yesterday is completely illegal. The Secretary of the Municipal Council will be reported for power abuse. The act of the councillors was also illegal. They used violence to enter the Tirana Municipality premises, when there was no reason for that. The state functions based on rules and laws. This is not the way how to resolve things”, Kosovrasti declared.

But Kosovrasti did not answer to the question why he and the Democratic Party councillors were not present at the meeting, since they are legally bound to attend it if it is summoned by one third of the councillors five days prior to the meeting.

“This is another problem. We’ll talk about it another time”, Kosovrasti declared.

After the left councillors of the Socialist Movement for Integration and Socialist Party were united in a coalition, they voted Kosovrasti’s replacement with Aldrin Dalipi. Although the left councillors have the majority, the Democratic Party councillors do not recognize these decisions and the issue might go to Courts, same as the Fier District.
