Tirana, INUK blocks boulevard

The situation has become tense once again between the Tirana residents
and the Municipal Police, for the prolongation of the new boulevard.
Citizens protest because they don’t accept the expropriation price from
the Municipality.

Meanwhile, the National Inspectorate of Urban Construction has suspended the works. The Tirana Prefect, Sadi Vorpsi, guaranteed residents that no house will be demolished without making the expropriation, saying that the Municipality’s budget has a fund that is not sufficient for the compensation.

“The expropriation fund is not covered yet. The previous government decided it was 1.7 billion ALL, but we have only one part and it is 500 million ALL. We cannot allow this. The Municipality has turned this into a political battle”, Vorpsi declared.

The Vice Mayor, Enno Bozdo, arrived on the scene to speak about this conflict together with other directors, but it was difficult for him to speak, because he met resistance by the residents. Bozdo declared that he will sue the National Inspectorate of Urban Construction, and declared that the decision for blocking the works is political.

“The National Inspectorate of Urban Construction was not convinced by the Constitutional Court verdict for unblocking the works. This problem comes from Edi Rama, who leads a bandit government that doesn’t know laws, rights or interests of the government”, Bozdo declared.

The vice mayor declared that the residents have been encouraged by the government to hold protests, when it is up to the government to plead them with the compensation price.
