Tirana, former waste dump-site transformed into park

“We are in another area of the city, which needs green spaces. Winter is coming and this is the right time to plant. We are working in urban areas and the suburb as well. We just cleaned a territory that used to be an informal landfill for this area of Tirana. This used to be one of the most problematic areas of the city”, Veliaj said.

The municipality will plan hundreds of trees of various types, park seats, park lights and recreation areas for children and senior citizens as well.

“We removed urban waste and are currently requalifying the entire terrain. Today we planted 750 trees, to add a small park to the city. It is not a small park, but an average one, which creates not only green spaces for senior citizens, but playgrounds for children as well”, the Mayor declared.

Part of the territory will be used for building a modern school, equipped with all sportive terrains. The Mayor says that during October and November they will start planting trees at the Orbital Forest.
