This Thursday, Tirana citizens will have difficulties commuting to
schools or jobs. The Transportation Unions will hold a 4-hour strike for
protesting against the fact that transportation associations have not
paid them.
“Thursday, from 05:00 to 09:00, the urban transportation in Tirana will not work at all”, declared Zija Hasanaj from the Syndication of Urban Transportation Union.
Union representatives had made an agreement for the delayed payments in December 2013.
“According to this agreement, the delayed payments should have been completed until January 28th. There are data showing that the January payment will not be made neither”, Hasanaj declared.
The Transportation Unions, on the other hands, demand a price increase from 30 to 70 ALL for the ticket. If the government will make a subvention, they want an increase of 50 ALL. The request has been deposited at the Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of Finances, and if there will be any reaction, they will start a strike after 15 days, without a deadline.
