The Municipalities of Tirana and Vienna will cooperate for urban
development and demographic accommodation of increased population.
Erion Veliaj welcomed his Viennese counterpart, Michael Haupi, who received the “Tirana Key award”.
“We agreed to cooperate in several areas, mainly urban development and demographic accommodation for increased population. There will be a second meeting during Summer, or in Autumn, to discuss urban matters and receive support from Vienna on urban development, architecture, public transportation and financial self-management of the city”, he declared.
Veliaj said Tirana and Vienna municipalities are creating projects for both cities, regarding European funds.
“After the good management of local money, Tirana has a lot to learn from Vienna, as regards access to EU funds”, Veliaj said.
The Vienna Municipality will donate Tirana some Vienna characteristic park benches, which will be placed on the Skenderbej square.
Veliaj said that in cooperation with the “Vienna City Marathone”, the Tirana Municipality has started preparations for the marathon that will be held on October 15th.
