Officials in Tirana and Prishtina opposed the note of protest that the neighboring country sent to the two Albanian states.
The Foreign Ministries of Albania and Kosovo called the respective Macedonian ambassadors in a meeting, one day after the Macedonian Foreign Ministry called the ambassadors of Albania and Kosovo, to whom they sent the notes of protest for what Macedonia considered an intervention in their internal issues.
The Macedonian Ambassador to Tirana received a communication about the interpretation made to the declaration of our Foreign Ministry regarding the Skopje violence.
The Macedonian diplomat was informed that the declaration of Tirana was an appeal to interrupt the violence and to find a solution through dialogue and peaceful democratic means.
It was made clear to Mr.Stojan Karajanov that this cannot be considered an intervention in the interior matters. Our Foreign Ministry reminded Macedonia through their officials in Tirana that Albania is committed and has constantly expressed their support for the territorial sovereignty and integrity of Macedonia.
It was declared to the Macedonian Ambassador that the position of Albania is similar to that of the international factor.
The officials of our Foreign Ministry have reiterated that only the implementation of the Ochrid Agreement is the main pillar for the building of a democratic state, and the orientation for the Euro-Atlantic future of Macedonia.
“Good neighboring relations and mutual cooperation require joint efforts and understanding”, the communication said.
The neighboring country has also been informed that the Albanians of Macedonia are not only a bridge of cooperation, but also a state-building factor with an important role in the stability of Macedonia and the entire region.
These stances and the concern for the situation in Skopje were transmitted to the Macedonian Foreign Minister also by the Albanian homologue, Ditmir Bushati, who is participating in a summit in Monte Negro.
