Official data show that the Tirana Airport has reached a new level of profits, almost 48.5% of the annual turnover.
In 2018, TIA has received almost 50 million EUR, 25 million of which were net profit.
After paying taxes, the profit of the company was 20 million EUR, most of which shared as dividend for shareholders.
The airport has been one of the most lucrative businesses in Albania for the past years, due to the absolute monopoly.
But the prices remain very high. After many complains by citizens, the government finally hired an independent audit company to be informed about the economic indicators of the concession.
The audit showed that from 2004 to 2017, the company had earned 85 million EUR more than what had been foreseen by the basic agreement.
