Thoma Gellci received seven votes at the Directive Council meeting, while Petrit Malaj received four.
The election was made after the law amends that the Parliament made to the Albanian Radio and Television.
Gellci has led several media outlets during the ‘80s and the ’90s. He has also worked with higher structures, such as Information Director at the Prime Minister’s Office.
Newly elected for this duty, Gellci said that the conclusion of the election process makes room for a long and not easy path towards the transformation of this important institution.
He said that the transformation process will be quick and all-inclusive.
