The Institution of Statistics reported that the economic growth was
accelerated in the third trimester of 2014, compared to the first two
trimesters.
“The gross value added for this trimester is 3.3% bigger than the same trimester of 2013”, says Gjergj Filipi.
According to INSTAT, the sector with the biggest contribution in the GDP was commerce, which has given more than half of the total economic growth during the third trimester.
“The main contribution has come from economic branches such as commerce, hotel-restaurant services with 1.73%; other services with 0.9%, construction with 0.81%; industry with 0.37%. Agriculture, hunting and forests with 0.24%; post-communication with 0.15%. The element that had negative impact was transportation, with 1.05%”, explained Gjergj Filipi, Director of the Institution of Statistics.
The total economic growth for these 9 months is 1.38%, based on the added value. The government predicts that the total growth of 2014 will be 2%, which would require a same pace of GDP growth for the fourth trimester.
