The Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha, warned of political
destabilization caused by the refusal he says the majority is doing to
the consensus for the territorial reform. Basha declared that this
reform should serve to the citizens and not the electoral maps of
political parties.
“We wish that the consensus that was promised and then disappeared returns once again and become a value through which we will realize an important reform such as that of the local government territorial division. We do not understand the rush of the majority with unilateral actions to change the borders, when the reform should be much deeper and it should serve to the citizens, not to the political parties and their electoral maps”, Basha declared.
Basha appealed Edi Rama and Ilir Meta, the leaders of the two coalition parties of the majority, that the refusal of consensus will put the country into a spiral of chaos, and they should find consensus between the parties, as the law requires.
“I appeal Prime Minister Rama and the Parliament Speaker to bring consensus. There is no perjudice. The opposition will use the consensus to reach a product that serves to the citizens. The refusal would have dramatic consequences. Every unilateral step will be devaluated and the country will enter a spiral of political destabilization, because the refusal of consensus for this reform is a refusal of democratic co-existence”, Basha declared.
Yesterday the majority deposited in Parliament the request for changing the administrative reform commission, after the opposition refused to become part of it, where they had been offered an equal number of members and the right to veto.
