The creation of the entire Albanian waste recycling infrastructure and
their division in the respective bins is one of the biggest challenges
of the central and local power.
The Minister of Environment, Fatmir Mediu, declared on the World Environment Day that the concretization of this law demands time and a lot of money.
“The recycling associations have offered financial support for the waste categorization process, in order to benefit recycle wastes, but this is a project that demands investments and important budget plans”, Mediu declared.
The European Commission Ambassador, Ettore Sequi, declared that millions of Euros have been given and are being given for the environment. EU is currently focused on some projects that are related with the coastline.
“Green Economy means poverty reduction and social justice, which is a priority for Europe. For this reason we have invested 100 million EUR in Albania. We also have some project for a better legislation and a better environmental monitoring. The Ministry must reinforce the investing and monitoring capacity”, Sequi declared.
The Environment Ministry and other official institutions have placed separate bins, so that the public officials can be the first to implement the law.
Some young people and representatives of the foreign Embassies in Albania have handed the recycling flag over to the Minister of Environment. This flag was also handed to the US Ambassador, Alexander Arvizu.
