The Vetting process is vital for EU accession, said Genoveva Ruiz
Cavalera, Director for the Western Balkans at the Directorate-General
for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations of the
European Commission, who is leading the international operation in
Albania for monitoring the Vetting law implementation.

Cavalera said the International Monitoring Operation will not take executive orders, but they will make a very detailed monitoring of the process.

“Every decision will be made by Albanian authorities. Our temporary international observers will start working tomorrow for the first phase”. Ruiz Cavalera said.

IMO will monitor the Vetting candidates at the Ombudsman, and after the first phase will be over, the European Commission and the USA will bring a long-term team of international observers, high-level specialists who will be there for the Vetting process.

The IMO will start operating officially on Debruary 16th, and by March 1st they will present their “black list” to parliament, the members who IMO sees as unfit for leading the new vetting institutions.
