Emine Jasini, a 83-year-old from Tirana, has been creating dolls with various materials since when she was very young. But now she calls herself “the Recycling Grandma”.
Her house looks like a very small version of Disneyland, with numerous characters and dolls that were created by recycled materials.
Emine will not leave any of the dolls without a name. Her favorite ones are the small “Arapkas” that she has created years ago, and the owls used as lucky charms.
She works with used pieces of paper, clothes, corn leaves and husks, date seeds, etc. One of the dolls even looks like her. “This is me”, she explains. “Although her hair is not as grey as mine.”
The Recycling Grandma challenges age and earns a small amount of profit from her passion.
