The President invites MPs to discuss negotiations with Greece at the Presidency

The President of Albania, Ilir Meta, will receive Foreign Commission MPs at the Presidency to discuss about the negotiations with Greece.

This decision of the President was taken after the opposition requested to summon the President in the hearing session after the one held with Foreign Minister Bushati.

The President accepted the request, but Top Channel has learned that his councillors have insisted that he should change his stance, giving him two arguments:

First, being summoned in hearing commissions would lower the President to the level of a Minister, in a position of accountability. Secondly, the reporting of the President in front of a Parliamentary commission would create a dangerous precedent, exposing the President to another summons in the future, for matters that he should not be discussing.

For this, the President has invited the Foreign Commission at his office, to discuss the negotiations with Greece. Contacted by Top Channel, the Democratic Party member, Tritan Shehu, who requested the President to be present in Parliament, confirmed that he welcomed the President’s invitation.

Other Socialist MPs confirmed for Top Channel that they would be participating underlining that they had no complexes about it.
