The seventh night of the National Folk Music Festival was the night of the host city, Gjirokastra.

Seven ethnographic areas from the southeastern edge of Albania, such as Gjirokastra, Tepelena, Përmeti and Dropulli, brought last night to the festival with their groups a rare combination of Albanian polyphony, declared a UNESCO heritage, as well as numerous life rites, wedding songs, dances and ballads, as well as the traditional clarinet ‘kaba’ from the area of Përmet.

The district of Gjirokastra brought on stage dozens of old and young artists as well as a group of small dancers, to witness the continuation of the musical tradition.

The polyphony of Zagoria region with the traditional legends of Constantine and Dhoqina, was another special polyphonic flow.

Part of the debuts on the festival stage were the groups of the Albanian diaspora in the USA, those in Greece as well as a group of Albanian arberesh from South Italy. They brought nearly 500-year-old motifs from the period of Skanderbeg and a traditional rite of Easter Tuesday.

Later the party moved to the ld market of the city with the singer Eneda Tarifa and her band.

Today, on the closing night of the folk festival, other groups from the diaspora are expected, as well as a compilation of the most popular rhythms of this festival.

The evening will end again in the bazaar with the orchestra of Renzo Arbore, Marsela Çibukaj and finally with the band of Flamur Cana.
