The fire in the pine forest in Peshtan in Fier in southwestern Albania, is reported to have gotten out of control, reaching the village of Kraps, where several houses are burning and residents are asking for help.
They say that they feel their homes and livestock are in danger and they are asking for firefighting intervention from the air by the authorities.
“We have a lot at risk, what can we say, you can see for yourself. The fire is approaching the houses. The fire can be put out only with your help, with the help of the state. We don’t have anything to fight it with, we are struggling”, said a resident of the village for television.
“Two or three houses have been burned so far. It cannot be extinguished by hand. The wind helps the fire. We need help from the state. They are inhabited houses. The cattle are inside the sheds. We ask for help as soon as possible”, said another interviewed local.
It is the third day that Peshtani is fighting with the flames, which have engulfed the pine forest near the village.
But the hard terrain and the wind make it even difficult ror the firefighters to extinguish the fires.
