While he values Albania as one of the highest deposits of chrome and
oil, the Head of the German Institution for Safety and International
Issues, Dushan Reljic, says that our country has enough raw material to
have the attention of foreign investments, which increases the risk of
corruption.

He criticized the construction of the Albania-Kosovo highway, ande declared that with the candidate status there will be more supervision from the European Union for government investments.

“All interventions of the World Bank and the European Union were pushed away, in their efforts to show the governments of Tirana and Prishtina to be more careful with the agreements for this highway, It was mostly due to the high pressure from the United States interests. This

If Albania becomes a member country, then we should start negotiating with the justice chapters and internal affairs, such as the fight against crime and corruption.

This means that the state investments in the future will be under the careful watch of the European Union, and this might help Albania avoid these problems”, Reljic declared.

The European Union enlargement with Eastern European countries showed that after taking the status, those countries made most of the progress. The uncertainty of the European Union in the decision making makes aspiring countries get tired, such as Bosnia and Macedonia.
