In these images from the school yard, it seems that the children are in a break, but it is actually a normal lesson for the students of the village of Mali Kolaj, in the municipality of Shkodra in the northeast of Albania.
For 3 days since the beginning of the new academic year, they have been learning in the school yard because an agreement has not yet been found between the owner of the building and the municipality of Shkodra.
The Education Office has offered them to study the school of the coastal village of Velipoja as a solution, but for the parents the distance is too far.
The public bus does not come to the center of the village to pick up the children and they refuse to walk 5 km to get to the bus stop.
In these conditions, their teacher has came to their by teaching them in the courtyard of the closed building. The students themselves demand the reopening of the village school.
In the village of Mali Kolaj, 20 km from Shkodra, there are 16 students who, with the closure of the primary school, are learning in an open as a result.
