The August 28th Conference for Balkan in Berlin, organized by the German
Chancellor Angela Merkel, is very important for the political and
economic aspects of the region.
Arben Ajmetaj, Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Enterprise, gave the details of what will be discussed about the economy, underlining that this interest of Germany in Balkan means changing the fate of the regional economy.
“The conference will be focused on four points: regional infrastructure, with the Balkan countries proposing the railway and road structure; the energy infrastructure in Balkan, for making it part of the European market; the third is the promotion of small and middle enterprises and the professional education for continuing this working force in Balkan EU countries; the fourth point is tourism, for which Albania is one of the possible important countries for further development”, Ahmetaj declared.
As reported by Top Channel two days ago, Chancellor Merkel will hold a press release with Prime Minister Edi Rama, a fact that has brought discontent in Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia. But why did Merkel take this decision? Ahmetaj explains it this way:
“This is a special event, a direct evaluation for our government and for the Prime Minister, but must of all for the country. Being one of those who was part of the meeting between Rama and Merkel, I can say that it was a special meeting, very friendly, although it was the first one between them. The promotion that Prime Minister Rama made to Balkan and the focus on the cooperation between countries marked a turning point in the relations between our countries, relations that today are in their best levels”, Ahmetaj underlined.
