Operatives of the Armed Forces in cooperation with the firefighting and the police forces in Berat District in central Albania, said they have successfully completed the operation to extinguish the fire that engulfed the area near the village of Skrevan in Vajgurore Bridge, Dimal Municipality.
The fire engulfed an area of about 20 hectares of bushes and medium vegetation, while 20 members of the Armed Forces, 37 firefighters, 20 police officers and seven fire engines were involved in the operation.
The fire, suspected to have started from the rupture of a high voltage cable, was brought under control after about 8 hours, according to the authorities.
The commitment of the structures of the Armed Forces will continue until the improvement of the situation created by the fires throughout the country, as well as for the support of the population in coping with natural disasters, the authorities said in a statement.
