The Albanian adventure of the “drug airplane”

The Police has announced the official variant of the situation in
Divjaka. The Chief of Police, Artan Didi, made it public during a
meeting between the Prime Minister and the police directors.

The airplane took off from Rinas at 13:36, with Pescara, Italy, as its destination. The airplane reached the 757 meters height at 13:50, and deviated without permission. When asked by the Traffic Control, he requested permission for a panorama flight.

Two minutes later, without asking for permission again, the pilot went down to 212 meters. Traffic Control warned him about the low altitude. At 13:56, the airplane lost its track from the radar but kept staying on the radio.

At 13:59, the Traffic Control launched the emergency procedure. At 14:11, the Chief of the Lushnje Police informed the General Chief of Police and the Interior Minister that a small airplane was landing to Divjaka.

The police ordered the operation for finding the airplane. The police effectives arrived on the scene and confirmed that they found the airplane and the police. They found the pilot with two bags in his hands, while the airplane was damaged. The pilot was identified as Giorgio Riformato.

At 14:33, the second patrol identified two vehicles that had pulled over, one that was being carried by a tow truck, and one citizen that was running towards the forest with a black bag in his hands.

The police seized the cars and followed the running citizen. At 14:50 they identified the persons who were identified and the owner of the vehicle where the drugs was found.

At 16:50, the police found eight bags close to the fallen airplane, three plastic gloves, one car signal and a flag, which were seized as evidence.

At 17:51, at the place called “Ura e Dajlanit”, at the Divjaka Forest, the police caught Sajmir Bajrami with 27,550 EUR in his bag, the car keys and the driving license.

 “Albcontrol” reacted after accusations

“Albcontrol” doesn’t give flight permits. Albcontrol makes the flying information service based on a flight permit given by the Civil Aviation Authority.”

This is part of the declaration given for the media by Albcontrol, in which they explain the duties of this institution.

The declaration comes after the recent accusations about the Divjaka airplane.

“Albcontrol doesn’t administer documents, but electronic data that are saved on the system without a time limtation, and that’s why our systems have data about all airplanes that have received permission from the Civil Aviation Authority. Our systems have recorded all movements made on May 10th, and for all other days, months and years. This airplane was flying according to the rules, completely under the responsibility of the pilot”, the declaration says.

“The controller in this case offers only navigational information, since they fly in a lower altitude than our jurisdiction”, Albcontrol declared.
