Thaci: “We’ll remove 100% tax if Serbia agrees for peace”

The President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, under the persistence of the Trump administration, promised to take a major step in resolving the tensions with Serbia.

Washington Post says that the White House is making an unusual appeal to Kosovo and Serbia, to settle down their 10-year-old tension, while the Trump administration is following a hidden line, with Moscow’s support, to finally resolve the situation.

Thaci, according to Washington Post, attended a diplomatic trip in Berlin last month, which was not made public. He met with the S Ambassador, Richard Grenell, a trusted man of President Trump.

Thaci seems determined to change his course regarding the fees that are imposed on Serbian goods. In an announcement made this Friday for the Washington Post, Thaci expressed his readiness to remove the fees if Kosovo’s path for achieving a final peace agreement with Serbia is freed.

Bu the Kosovo Minister of Trade and Industry, Endrit Shala, declared that Thaci will not be able to make such promises, as the tax was imposed by the government of Kosovo, through his proposition as Minister, and not through the President.

Shala said for local media that as long as the government of Kosovo will see no reason to remove the tax, the tax will not be removed.
