Thaci: “We must learn the truth first, then achieve reconciliation”

The President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, said that the Kosovo civil
society cannot build a better future if they are hostage of their past.

At the second consultative meeting of the Commission for Truth and Reconciliation, the President underlined that it is necessary to have everyone ready to work together for this very important initiative for Kosovo, the Kosovo society and its future.

Thaci said that they have established institutions and a good infrastructure, which made almost every physical sign of war vanish. But the pain for the lost lives and the disappeared relatives is still unhealed.

President Thaci said that the first purpose of the Commission will be to find the truth. This forum, according to him, would create a supporting mechanism for the internal dialogue between Kosovo communities. It will not replace the dialogue between Kosovo and serbia in Brussels, which is expected to bring reconciliation between the two countries.
