President Thaci took his oath today as President of Kosovo, as successor of President Atifete Jahjaga.
The family of the late President Ibrahim Rugova were present in Parliament, but the opposition boycotted the ceremony. Thaci underlined that during his career as Prime Minister he has been engaged in all processes for the freedom and independence of Kosovo. As President, he has promised that he will guarantee the Constitution.
After thanking President Jahjaga, Thaci underlined the future of Kosovo and its relations with the neighboring country of Serbia.
In the meantime, the Police held back some young protesters. The ceremony for Thaci’s election will continue with an event with 1300 persons invited at the “Skenderbeu” square in Prishtina.
