The Kosovo Prime Minister, Hashim Thaci, visited his party supporters in
Drenas and expressed his preference to hold the Presidential elections
in 2013, together with the Parliamentary Elections.
This would be a violation of the agreement reached this April with LDK and AKR, for electing Atifete Jahjaga as President of Kosovo.
This agreement provided that the Presidential Elections should be held not later than six months from the date when the Constitutional Amends entered in act.
Thaci’s stance was defended by the Parliamentary Group leader of the PDK, Adem Grabovci.
On the other hand, the LDK is expecting the implementation of the agreement that foresees the Presidential elections in 2012.
The Parliament Speaker and General Secretary of Thaci’s party, Jakup Krasniqi, would prefer the achieved agreements to be respected.
The competences of a President elected by the people are a matter that is expected to spur many debates in Kosovo.
