Thaci on VOA: “USA should be involved in Kosovo-Serbia talks”

After Serbian President Alexandar Vucic declared that the internal
dialogue with Kosovo will be concluded within October, President Hashim
Thaci also focuses on the need to start a decisive phase of dialogue
with Belgrade.
“There is no other alternative for the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia. Good neighboring must win as well”, Thaci declared for Voice of America.
“It is on the best interest of both countries of the region, and also on the interest of the international factor in Kosovo, Serbia and the region, because the peace between Kosovo and Serbia means peace and stability for the entire region, a safe Euro-Atlantic perspective for Kosovo and an European one for Serbia. Both countries will win, but first of all, it the Euro-Atlantic values will be winning”, Thaci said.
Thaci left to be understood that the meetings could also be held in the USA.
“The main role will come from the European Union, especially through Mrs.Mogherini”, Thaci declared, but he also asked Washington to be involved.
The next meeting between him and Vucic will be held within 10 days. When asked if he will insist for Serbia to recognize Kosovo, Thaci said they are working to normalize state relations and reconciliation. The recognition, according to Thaci, will take place very soon.
