After the theories heard in the past days about a possible division of Kosovo’s territory, President Hashim Thaci said that he is ready to correct the border with Serbia.
With this he says that he understands the request of the Presheva Valley to join Kosovo, but he doesn’t say what Kosovo would give Belgrade.
Voices about a possible territory exchange between Serbia and Kosovo have been more active than ever during these days.
In an interview for Associated Press, Thaci said that Serbia’s claims to divide Kosovo is unacceptable, but the final agreement, which applies a mutual recognition, de facto and de jure, will allow Kosovo be part of international organizations, including the UN.
“There will be no division, but a correction of the borders, which means respecting the institutionalized request of the Presheva Valley to join Kosovo”, Thaci said.
Belgrade officials say that the division means having Northern Mitrovica, of Serbian majority, join Serbia.
