After the four suspects for terrorism arrived at the Court of Serious
Crimes, the Special Police has not only surrounded the building, but
they have also decided to close the doors until the session was over.
The defendants declared that they prefer to obey to God rather than the Judge, and refused to stand up during the appeal.
Verdi Morava, Edmond Balla, Orion Reci and Astrit Tola appeared at the Court of Serious Crimes for the arrest measure. Same as their colleagues, they refused to accept a lawyer and trusted their defense only to God. The 42-year-old even rejected the defense of his brother, Ndricim Tola, who is a lawyer. This made the court appoint the lawyers offered by the state.
The other suspects who is accused of funding the operation had two lawyers sent by his family.
Sources say that the Prosecutor Elisabeta Ymeraj has declared that there are strong suspicions that the eight suspects who were arrested in Albania and the five others who are on the run, are guilty of sending 80 Albanians in Syria as part of the Al-Nusra organization, which is included in the UN list of terrorist organizations. However, the Prosecution thinks that the most dangerous person in our country is the self-proclaimed Imam, Genci Balla, who has also been to Syria. The others are mostly manipulated followers who were used for propaganda to convince believers to fight in Syria.
After the session was over, the four suspects and their supporters chanted on the room. The father of Edmond Balla, Shaban Balla, protested in front of the police. The situation became more complicated when the man tried to put food inside for his son, but he was stopped by the police.
“Our son hasn’t eaten for the entire week. He doesn’t eat the prison’s food. Everything here is haram and he doesn’t eat it. I just want to send him food. All this debate was for giving him some food. If my son has sent any person in Syria, I will tell the state to never let him out”, his father declared.
