The Democratic Party filed at the Constitutional Court an appeal for the
new territorial division that the majority passed in the previous
Parliamentary Session.
The Democratic Party MP, Oerd Bylykbashi, said that this law goes against several articles of the Constitution, starting with the procedures that were followed for approving it.
“We submitted the request to repeal this new law as anti-constitutional. We have asked its suspension too. This is one of the most unacceptable efforts that violates the constitution in many aspects, not only by violating the political agreements. It is a violation of the constitution even in the procedural aspect, because it violates any rule, a series of rights defined by the Constitution”, Bylykbashi declared.
For the opposition, the law has only one goal:
“We are seeing a law that has been approved by the majority with great haste. There is only one purpose to this violation: capturing and winning the election on tables, not through ballots. This majority wants to consolidate the Rama-Meta oligarchy through this new map. Now they are looking for local oligarchs”, the Democratic Party MP declared.
The reform was returned to Parliament by the President, but his decrees were rejected.
If the Constitutional Court will leave the law in power, what will the Democratic Party do in the next elections?
“There can be no elections with this map”, Bylykbashi declared.
