The Minister of Justice and the Vice Chairman of the High Council of
Justice tried to keep their calm during a seminary for the judiciary
ethics, organized by the US Embassy, but they did not avoid the tense
climate.
While minister Naco announced a justice reform, the Vice Chairman of the HCJ, Elvis Cefa, declared that reforms should start with ethics.
“The judiciary reform will be the government’s priority for the next 300 days. Soon there will be a national conferece of the judiciary for the reform”, Naco declared.
Elvis Cefa, vice chairman of the HCJ, declared that it is unacceptable that the higher political representatives who need to reform the judiciary, don’t hold ethical stances.
The Vice Ambassador of the US, Henry Jardin, mentioned the progress-report of the EU which requires a cleansing of the judiciary from corrupted people:
“The inspectors must investigate the suspects that come from the behavior of judges in trials. This is the first program for inspection. The US has brought very good international experts. The US is interested to have an independent judiciary and free from political pressure. The judiciary should be free and judges should restrain themselves, fight corruption and remove unethical and corrupted judges. The progress report of the EU requires a cleaning of the judiciary from incapable, corrupted and politically influenced judges”.
By the end of the meeting, the vice chairman of the HCJ made another comment about the declaration of Minister Nasip Naco, after the HCJ did not discharge Judge Gjin Gjoni and the other four ones.
“We are shocked by the political declaration of the Minister of Justice. I expected it from the Minister, because he was incapable to defend his requests, and he had to defend himself to his superiors”.
SP-SMI: HCJ has joined corruption
The Socialist Party and the Socialiat Movement for Integration reported the situation at the High Council of Justice, saying that the HCJ has joined corruption. Blendi Klosi and Ylli Manjani supported the Parliament’s intervention and considered this situation unprecedented.
“The SP support the declaration of the Minister of Justice and requests the intervention of the Parliament. The representatives of the people have a legal and moral obligation to distance themselves from the HCJ members, elected by the Parliament, but that each day more are becoming representatives of the judiciary corruption”, Klosi declared.
“We appeal the HCJ, judges and prosecutors, that the independence of the judiciary cannot be defended through corruption. Corruption is a crime and it should be punished. The incapables cannot defend you, but they will damage you. We encourage every justice employee to report the corruption cases. That of the HCJ doesn’t defend anything, that’s sure”, Manjani declared.
