Tension in Himara as Greek minority protesters try to interrupt Municipality Council

30/08/2017 00:00

Fredi Beleri, chairman of the Omonia party in Himara, and businessman
Nikollaq Neranxi, were leading protesters at the Himara Municipal
Council, opposing municipal projects.

For this reason, Mayor Jorgo Goro and the Municipal Council members gathered in the Kuc village, which is part of the municipality with the new territorial division.

However, even in Kuc protesters tried to enter the room and interrupt the process. However, their efforts lasted until the members of the party representing the Greek minority to Albania, United for Human Rights Party, (PBDNj), decided to leave the room, together with the protesters.

The meeting continued normally, with councilors of the Socialist Party, Democratic Party and Socialist Movement for Integration, who discussed with consensus the general local plan of Himara, which is expected to make a radical transformation to the area.
