A 17-year-old student was killed by gunshots in Shkozet, Durres, inside
his classroom. The armed person killed the 17-year-old Adriatik Toto,
from Kukes. Preliminary investigations show it might have been a fight
between teens that ended tragically.
The police has identified the killer, Endrin Baraku, 17, and his parents were called in. The Interior and Education Ministers, Saimir Tahiri and Lindita Nikolla, both went to the scene.
“This should make us sit and discuss the safety of education institutions. We are on the first phases for taking the necessary steps about the radical measures, and guarantee safety in schools. We are close to catching the author, who is a student of this school. We arrived here because this is unacceptable, and we need to create the basis for a radical reform in education institutions”, Tahiri declared.
Minister Nikolla expressed her shock for this event that took the life of a young student, and that also turned another one into an aggressor.
“As Minister of Education, I guarantee the public opinion that we have clear intervention plan and strong pace of work to guarantee safety in education institutions”, Nikolla declared.
The Prime Minister expressed his condolences to the family and asked the Ministers of Interior and Education to guarantee the victim’s relatives and teachers that they will have their solidarity.
Basha: A dark day for citizens
The opposition leader and Mayor of Tirana, Lulzim Basha, reacted and accused the government not only for being unable to fight crime, but also of putting themselves to the crime with the practices they use.
“This is horrible for that family, and a dark day for the Albanian citizens, because it shows the total failure of this government to fight crime, through their negative signals through the misuse of the police. This government is not helping a safer state with a rule of law, but they are ranking themselves among the most failed governments in Balkan. I appeal the Police structures to refuse the political scenarios and to join the citizens. The government is joining the crime each day more”, Basha declared.
