Hundreds of children and students have celebrated the Teachers’ Day.
Roads throughout the country were filled with children holding flowers
for the persons who taught them to read and to take the first steps of
their lives.

127 years ago, on March 7th, the first school in Albanian was opened in Korce. For the first director of the first school in Albanian, Pandeli Sotiri, and for the entire Albanian people, this was a very important day, because the Albanian children could learn Albanian in a public school in their country, and not privately.

The Albanian people had fought against the ottoman invaders and this was a huge victory of knowledge.

The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, visited the Artistic Lyceum where he graduated from the high school. The Prime Minister watched one of the Ceramics cabinets and then those of painting.

Accompanied by the Minister of Culture, Mirela Kumbaro, the Prime Minister asked teachers for their opinions. They considered the Prime Minister’s visit as more attention returned to the lyceum, saying that it has preserved the foundations, but has remained behind. According to the Director of the Lyceum, now this school doesn’t respond correctly to the job market.

The Minister of Education, Mirela Kumbaro, declared that people should not stay passive, and suggested for a fund of the European Union.

“I appeal once again to high schools for a huge potential that is being offered by an European program, called Creative Europe. The Albanian government has finalized an agreement for projects of all artistic and cultural nature”, Kumbaro declared.

The Prime Minister declared that the Lyceum should be treated differently, as it happens in every school of the world.
