Tax Office’s iron hand

After installing fiscal cases, businesses are facing another cost that for their maintenance.

Law provides that all businesses that have a fiscal case should perform a maintenance check once in four months.

This process is handled by the companies authorized by the Finance Ministry for the fiscal case sale in the inner market. The annual fee is 98 dollars, or 10,000 lek per year.

The payment must be done twice a year, once in six months, 4800 lek per payment.

This cost is relatively low for big businesses, but small businesses will have their fiscal burden doubled.

In average, overall fiscal burden that businesses pay to local administration tax unities, municipalities or communes, goes from 90,000 to 300,000 lek per year (900 to 3000 USD per year).

For small businesses, maintenance fee adds 10% of the total burden, although this obligation does not come as a direct tax, but as an additional administrative cost.

First businesses that are facing this cost are the ones that paid first the fiscal cases, after the passing of the four month period.

But this is an obligatory payment for all businesses, who are obliged to make the maintenance check every four months and pay for the service.
