Tax Office warns tourist businesses for informality

The Tax Directory states that some hotels, restaurants and other
businesses related to tourism are avoiding taxes by working informally.

“There are uninsured workers, non-fiscal printers and failure to issue receipts”, the Directory says, warning businesses that they will be punished by even having their activity blocked for 30 days.

Last month the Tax Administration started the implementation of a national plan for fight informality in tourism, which, according to the Tax Office, mounts up to 50%.

The Tax Administration says that inspectors have checked thousands of businesses in tourist areas while they appeal citizens to cooperate and denounce cases of informality.
