TAP even in Kosovo

The Minister of Energy and Industry, Damian Gjiknuri, in a meeting with the
leaders of the TAP consortium, discussed the possibility of including Kosovo in
the gas pipeline network and branching the project even to Croatia.

Gjiknuri, who is invited to Azerbaijan by the president of the Azerbaijani company “SOCAR” was guaranteed by the consortium leaders that investments for the aiding infrastructure will start soon in Albania, and that project leaders are ready to fund the master plan preparation for the gas network .

The TAP project leaders expressed their pleasure in the availability showed by the Albanian government for supporting the project. They declared that they welcome the action taken by the Albanian government for establishing a Task Force that will help with the project.

Minister Gjiknuri was guaranteed that the work for the aiding infrastructure will start soon, and that the leaders of the project are ready to finance the master plan for the gas network in our country.

Albania is one of the countries in which the pipeline that will bring Azerbaijani gas to Western Europe will pass through. The consortium has contacted a Dutch company that will start negotiations with the residents of the communes where TAP will have to expropriate and build.

There are about 200 employees who will meet with land owners to negotiate the possibility of buying land or renting it. The gas pipeline construction is planned to start in 2015.
