TAP, Albania has not ordered any gas quantity for 2019

The government has started the study for the gas distribution in Albania, but no agreement has been signed yet with the TAP consortium.

“Part of the negotiations with TAP in the past years should have been
the gas quantity that Albania would order. From 10 billion cubic meters
that TAP will bring from the border of Greece and Turkey to Italy, 8
billion have been ordered by Italy, 1 billion by Bulgaria and 1 billion
by Greece. Albania has not ordered any”, declared Endri Puka, Director
of Albpetrol.

But the representative of TAP for Albania, Shkelqim
Bozgo, says that despite the initial quantity that will be transported
in 2019, when it will be operational, the pipeline aims to start working
with a more intensive regime a bit later, leaving possibilities for
Albania’s supply.

The representative of the Energy Regulatory
Entity says that before the signing of the agreements for gas, Albania
needs to fix the infrastructure within the next three years. Because, if
the gas is ordered and not paid, Albania will have to pay a fine.

The
first consumers that might benefit are the Vlore Thermo Central, the
Ballsh and Fier refineries, and Bankers Petroleum that operates them.
