The Albanian Prime Minister signed a memorandum for the Trans Adriatic
Pipeline project with the countries that will have the system across
their soil. Rama underlined the importance of this investment for the
entire region.

“The Albanian government will use all human and material resources, all the institutional and legal capacities, led by the Minister of Energy, to guarantee the success of TAP in all aspects regarding Albania and the Southeastern European countries. With the help of Azerbaijan, we will turn TAP into a source of development not only for Albania, but also for Kosovo, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro and all Southeastern European countries. Albania needs to grab this moment and turn into a promoter of gasification in all countries in the region which don’t have such a market or the infrastructure for it”, Rama declared.

Minister Damian Gjiknuri, present in this ceremony in Baku, declared that this project will contribute with 1 billion ALL only in the Albanian side during the next years.

“Hundreds of millions will be benefited by Albanian local firms, and thousands of jobs will be created. Albanians will participate with their contribution in this project. This means that it will be one of the main contributors for the Gross Domestic Product in the next years. That’s why this is a good event for Albania and the other countries where this pipeline goes through”, Gjiknuri declared.

Ditmir Bushati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, sees TAP in the geostrategic view of Albania.

“This project and these developments reinforce the geostrategic position of Albania, as a key country where two geostrategic projects are crossed, the TAP and the IAP projects. This will bring not only more economic welfare for Albania, not only its gasification and the relation of Albania to the gas networks, but most of all, will reinforce the positions of our country in the region and wider”, Bushati declared.

The President of Azerbaijan organized a reception in the Presidential palace for the Albanian delegation. During the conversation with Prime Minister Rama, they also discussed the exploration of other cooperation possibilities in energy and tourism.

The relations between the two countries were considered excellent and President Alieve expressed his desire to visit Albania in the next year.
