The lawyer of MP Saimir Tahiri opposed the request of the Albanian
prosecution for authorizing his arrest. He said it is not based on
evidence, law or constitution.
“Based on article 288 of the Criminal Procedure, the request should be followed by the supporting evidence. The request of the Prosecution has no evidence attached”, said Lawyer Artan Hajdari.
The two main evidence the Prosecution based on their request for removing Tahiri’s immunity are the car that Tahiri sold to the Habilaj, his cousin, and the suspect that Tahiri has traveled with the same vehicle after the sale. His lawyer denies this.
“The Prosecution has a sale act, which has no value for this process. They also claim that Tahiri has used the vehicle, traveling with the persons involved, but the TIMS system doesn’t prove that Tahiri has done this”, Hajdari said.
Tahiri’s lawyers said they translated the entire material of 460 pages from the Italian justice, and there is no indication that connect the former Minister with the criminal group in question.
