Tahiri: President above parties

The Albanian President, Bujar Nishani, and the Interior Minister, Saimir
Tahiri, discussed the recent debate of cooperation between the Secret
Service and the Police.

Tahiri attacked the President by saying that he must stay above the parties and take no sides.

“We are all bound by law to be dedicated to the truth. I saw it appropriate to let the President know the truth, especially after his recent declarations. It would be better if the President would moderate the cooperation between institutions, rather than neglecting the truth and taking one side, no matter where that side comes from”, Tahiri declared.

The Interior Minister declared that he has given written evidence to the President and the Parliamentary Commission of National Security, and that the Secret Service has not cooperated with the police.

“The President will see that the written truth of institutional communication is far from the declarations released by the President. I have informed the Parliamentary Commission of Security about the truth, because I believe that our dedication to the truth puts us in positions to have more success in front of the citizens, especially in the fight against terrorism, organized crime and corruption”, Tahiri declared.

The president has declared that the Secret Service had given information to the police regarding the explosives.

Nishani: No fights between institutions

After meeting with Tahiri, the Albanian President declared in a press release that the meeting was held with a request made by the Interior Minister. The declaration says that the Interior Minister presented some claims to the President regarding the institutional cooperation for the fight against organized crime.

The President considered the inter-institutional cooperation as a priority, especially in the fight against organized crime, and advised the Interior Minister to verify the verbal conflicts with the institutions, especially for law-enforcing commitments.

The President suggested during this meeting that the important contribution and commitments of constitutional institutions in the security area must be valued and exploited maximally by the State Police, for the joint interests of fight against crimes and traffic.
