The former President of Serbia, Boris Tadic, says that if Albanians and
Serbs find a joint solution for Kosovo, they will be even more respected
in the world and the international community.

In an interview for Top Channel, he says that there is no other way than reviewing the joint interests.

“By watching it from a wider point of view, I think that nations that have been involved in conflicts may create benefits, especially as regards the international community. There are joint interests. Albania has a wonderful seaside and a huge potential in energy. I am sorry that I have been unable to confince more Serbian investors to invest in Albania. Kosovo is also an important market for Serbia and vice-versa. Many people have given for the Serbian culture, and Serbia has also helped building the University of Prishtina. People like Bekim Fehmiu and Mr.Petrovic have given a lot to the culture, and also Edi Rama from our modern times, a precious Albanian artist”, Tadic declared.

As regards Kosovo and the inabilities to resolve its issue, together with a faster integration of Serbia, he said that making politics is not always that easy.

“I led Serbia after the murder of Prime Minister Zoran Djinjic, which was not only a challenge to security, but also to the values. Our country lost credibility. The first four years of the mandate went to opposition parties, such as that of Vojislav Kostunica. The second four years had an economic crisis and Kosovo’s declaration of independence which brought destabilization. However, we have made a reconciliation policy with the Albanian people, the Bosnians and Croatians. I have made apologies and I have received apologies. We need to close the bad pages of our history and follow the German-French model”, Tadic declared.

Tadic considers Rama an old friend, and said that his visit has opened a new phase, but maybe it wasn’t the case to talk about Kosovo.
