The Serbian President, Boris Tadic, declared in Belgrade that he has no
means to convince the Serbian extremists in Northern Kosovo for
abandoning the violent acts.
Tadic reiterated that he has no means to protect even the calm population of Kosovo Serbs.
“As President of Serbia, I don’t have an army or police forces in Kosovo for protecting our population, or for influencing the extremists”, Tadic declared.
He added that in order to receive the EU candidate status, Serbia must convince the Northern Kosovo Serbs to not fire against the KFOR troops.
“With the attacks against KFOR, the extremists could ruin everything that Serbia has achieved so far”, Tadic declared, who asked the Serbs to protect their life and to control the extremists.
On December 9th, the EU candidate status was refused to Serbia due to the attacks that were held against the KFOR troops, and for not implementing the agreements reached with Kosovo.
Tadic and the Interior Minister, Ivica Dacis, blamed Brussels for the failure, arguing that they had set as a condition the recognition of the Kosovo independence, an accusation that was denied by the EU.
