Switzerland will support Albania with more than 70 million EUR for the
next three years in the sectors of decentralization, economic
development, urban infrastructure, energy and health.
The director of cooperation ion the Swiss Embassy, Holger Tausch, declared that this financial help should produce concrete results.
“70 million EUR will be given to Albania as grants from 2014 to 2017. The next sum is 25%, which means that the strategy requires results, because Switzerland is committed to results”, declared Holger Tausch.
While Prime Minister Edi Rama expressed the determination of the Albania government for reaching concrete results, by considering the territorial reform as one of them.
“We are obliged to reach concrete results first of all for those who have voted us, and for deserving the trust expressed with 22 million francs each year from the Swiss government as support for Albania. One result is the territorial-administrative reform, which would have not been possible without the help of Switzerland”, Rama declared.
This reform, according to Rama, will make way for transformations in the areas specified by the Swiss government.
“The cooperation strategy with Switzerland lays in several areas, from education to the business climate. We must increase our revenues for the development projects”, he added.
