The Tirana Municipality reacted after the government’s decision to suspend soft loans for one year.
Vice Mayor of Tirana, Enno Bozdo, declared that this is a politically based decision and that it will not block the officials of the municipality, but the citizens who need soft loans for shelters.
“The Prime Minister’s decision is depriving hundreds of families in need from having a home. After blocking the Municipality’s budget, this is the next bad news for the Tirana citizens. It is like saying that the Municipality will close doors for six months due to an audit. This suspension is politically based.
Since 2009, the government has given soft loans to the families in need. So far we have given 2045 soft loans in total, and the National Entity of Buildings has been notified, but only 610 agreements have been signed with the respective bank.
The financial budget effects are only for 610 agreements, and every other assumption is untrue and an amateurish pretext for blocking the process.
There are 872 families in the Tirana Municipality who have applied for a soft loan. Some are waiting for an approval of the Municipal Council, and the rest is under verification process.
Rather than adding the quotas, for facing the great demand of Tirana, the Prime Minister suspended it”, Bozdo declared.
