Special Prosecution Office SPAK lost today in its bid to convince the Supreme Court that former Interior Minister Saimir Tahiri should be retried on charges of narcotics trafficking and organized crime.
Sentenced to 3 years of probation by this court on charges of abuse of office, Tahiri and Vlora police head Jaeld Çela return for trial on the case that a year ago did not grant them either guilt or innocence.
The opening of the investigation five years ago led to his resignation as minister. Former director of Vlora police, Jaeld Çela, investigated for drugs cultivation and trafficking with the criminal group of Moisi Habilaj, will be tried by the same court along with his former superior.
Meanwhile two other police officers, Sokol Bode and Gjergj Kohila continue to be on the run, although there is no verdict for them.
