Supreme Court judge found guilty for corruption, uses delay with Judicial Reform to challenge verdict

The former Supreme Court judge, Majlinda Andrea, is being involved in the debate about which court should treat high-level corruption cases until the establishment of the Special Prosecution Against Corruption and the Court against Corruption and Organized Crime.

With this argument, Majlinda Andrea is challenging the verdict of her colleagues, who found her guilty for corruption and sentenced her three years in probation. She considers the court not competent for investigating her case.

After the Parliament passed the laws for the judiciary reform, the Supreme Court was no longer competent for a high-level corruption case. The competence passed to the new court, which has not been created yet.

The Constitutional Court will now investigate the case on March 20th.
