For the first time, the Hygeia hospital in Tirana used a new technic.
The donator had one of his kidnesy removed through a laparoscopic
surgery, a technic used in developed countries.
“The method we used for removing the kidney is special, because it is less intrusive and doesn’t open the body. Before we used to open the body to bring the kidney out, but today we used microcameras and small cuts that can remove the kidney without lateral effects and less pain, with the patient returning home for two days”, declared Prof.Dr. Emin Baris Akin.
The patient who received the transplant is a 19 year old girl. Her 45-year-old father donated one of his kidneys, allowing both of them to have a normal life.
