“Farmers can take the money of their hard work when they hand over goods at collection point. The good thing Is that this scheme connects production, agro-processing and the market. My vision is that we should support the result and not the effort”, Panariti declared.

Albanian farmers profited 11 million EUR in the past year as direct support from the budget, mainly for planting fruit trees and for the multiplication of their farm animals. This year Mr.Panariti hopes that the funds will double.

“We are preparing the new budget, and I will insist fpr agricultural support funds to have a significant increase. I have spoken with donators starting from the European Union and others from Italy and Germany, to receive financial support for farmers and the Albanian agriculture through this new scheme”, Panariti declared.

Agriculture gives 20% of the Gross Domestic Product, but takes back only 0.5% of the Gross Domestic Product. Government says that regardless of the crisis, they will increase the support for this sector and will present a series of measures to increase the number of farms.

According to official data, the average farming surface in Albania is 1.2 ha, while the European Union average is 27. Panariti says that besides stimulating the property purchase, the second priority will be investing in the irrigation systems.
