Studying abroad

Although there is a considerable number of universities that operate in
Albania, the desire of the Albanian students to get education abroad
remains high.

This can be proved at the American University in Bulgaria, where many Albanians have attended their studies since 1992.

Only in this academic year there are 140 students from Albania. David Huwiler, President of the American University in Bulgaria, says that he has come to recruit students, because Albania is an important market.

He confirms that after the Bulgarian students, the biggest number of foreign students that study at this university comes from Albanian. In cooperation with the Soros Foundation, this university has created a system of scholarships.

“We release a series of scholarships, based on the need and other criteria, most important of which are merits. The main purpose is to attract the best students. The students undergo an evaluation test on which is based the scholarship sum that the student will receive. The students that reach 1350 points or more will study for free. The others under this level will have to pay something”, Huwiler declared.
