Two studies of Fabian Zhilla and Besfor Lamallari show how organized crime has evolved in Albania.

The Director of the Foundation “Open Society for Albania”, Andi Dobrushi, said that the studies are based on a huge work, after interviewing Judges and Prosecutors of the Serious Crimes, lawyers, police experts and after analyzing 71 verdicts of the Court of Serious Crimes.

Based on these studies, a series of gangs that were activie during 1997 have also had ties with politicians and local governments.

The political parties have received funds from people who had been sentenced abroad for illegal activities, such as the criminal group sentenced in Dendermonde, Belgium.

The study shows the map of criminal groups that still operate in bigger cities, and also their criminal specialties.
